Great subjects for practicing the zoom burst photo technique
Zoom bursts are creative photos that look complicated to achieve, but are in actual fact really easy and fun to do. In Issue 21 of Photography For Beginners magazine, we take you though how to create these shots using a slow shutter speed and zooming in whilst the shutter is open. In the mag, we demonstrated this technique by shooting snooker balls, but you can try it with almost any subject. Here are some ideas to inspire your own zoom burst projects.

Flowers
Zoom burst shots look great with lots of bright colours, so flowers are a perfect subject. Get your hands on a bunch of colourful flowers and position one flower in the centre. Focus on the middle of the centre flower and zoom.

Fruit
Fruit is also a great colourful subject for zoom bursts, and also features a bit of texture in the skin. You can also place the fruit in a bowl and blur that in your shot too for even more colour and interest.

People
This effect can also be used to add interest to a portrait shot. Try to position your model in front of a colourful or textured background. It can also create the effect that they are travelling really fast.
